Stephen Charles John Daly born in Torquay, Devon, on 2 February 1873 and commenced his naval service on 2 February 1891. He was appointed Acting Gunner 1st Class on 10 April 1907, Acting Commissioned Gunner to H.M.S. Drake, 7 May 1907, and Chief Gunner on 13 September 1918. His medals for service in the Great War were issued to H.M.S. Vivid. He was promoted Lieutenant (Retired) on 16 August 1922.
