Military General Service 1793-1814, 3 clasps, Badajoz, Vittoria, St. Sebastian (James Callyer, 4th Foot.) fitted with a ribbon buckle, some polish deposits, otherwise toned, good very fine

Provenance: Seaforth Collection 1870; Cheylesmore Collection 1880; Glendining’s, July 1930.

Joseph Callyer/Collier appears in the musters of the 1st Battalion, 4th Foot in February 1806, and is present in all musters until December 1814, when the regiment was serving in North America having participated in the battle of Bladensburg and the capture of Washington. Collier returned to the U.K. on 20 December 1814 to join the 2nd Battalion in England and thus missed Waterloo. The 2nd battalion appears to have been disbanded around September 1815. Sold with copied pay and muster lists and other research.
