Lewis Charles Dadswell attested for the Australian Imperial Force and embarked with the 20th Reinforcements, 8th Light Horse, for Alexandria on 12 September 1916. He was taken on the strength of 68 (Australian) Squadron, Royal Flying Corps, on 24 December 1916, and proceeded with them to the Western Front on 21 September 1917. He was discharged in Perth, Western Australia, in July 1919.
