Set into a plaque hinged for display, tablet below named (To The Governor General of Malta, Sir Maurice Dorman, from Admiral W.F.A. Wendt, U.S. Navy, 31 July 1969); mint state, UNIQUE; in blue fitted case (£50-60)

Sir Maurice Henry Dorman, GCMG, GCVO (1912-93) was appointed assistant to the Lt-Governor of Malta in 1945, and after a number of other colonial postings was Governor and Commander-in-Chief in Malta from 1962-4, then Governor-General from 1964-71; he was Almoner of the Venerable Order of St John of Jerusalem from 1972-5 and Chief Commander of the St John Ambulance from 1975-80. In retirement he lived at Marlborough, Wiltshire. Further biographical details are sold with the lot
