Henry VI (First reign, 1422-1461), Trefoil issue, Groat, Calais, mm. cross IIIb, leaf on breast, trefoil each side of neck and after di, rex and fran, double saltire stops elsewhere, rev. double saltire stop before and after la, 3.70g/9h (Whitton 35/–; N 1497; S 1911). Legends weak in places and leaf on breast flat, otherwise very fine and attractively toned, very rare; the last issue of Groats struck at Calais (£550-650)
