Leslie Frank Vizard was born in London in 1896 and having emigrated to Australia attested for the Australian Imperial Force at Brisbane on 8 June 1915. He served with the 31st Battalion during the Great War, before transferring to the 5th Pioneer Battalion on 3 March 1916. He was discharged in England on 7 April 1919.
