Andrew Weatherston was born in 1921 and enlisted in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Advanced Flight Sergeant, he was commissioned Pilot Officer on 26 April 1943, and was promoted Flying Officer on 26 October 1943, and Flight Lieutenant on 26 April 1945. A typed note with the lot states that he served during the Second World War with ‘190 Training Unit, 78 Squadron, and later 138 (Special Duties) Squadron, R.A.F. Tempsford.’ Awarded the Air Force Cross for his service during the Second Wold War, he was released from active service on 8 August 1946, and died in 2017.

Sold together with the recipient’s Royal Air Force Service and Release Book; riband bar and Pathfinder Force Badge; Aircrew Association and Pathfinder Club Membership cards; and a portrait photograph of the recipient.
