Ernest Arthur White saw operational service during the Second World War and the Suez Crisis of 1956. He was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal in October 1951 while serving at the shore establishment H.M.S. Ganges, having attained the rate of Shipwright Artificer Second Class.
