Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., V.R., narrow suspension, impressed naming (T. Chiverton, M.A.A., H.M.S. Jupiter.) edge bruise, very fine £100-£140

Thomas Chiverton was born in Portsea, Hampshire, on 13 April 1861. He enlisted into the Royal Navy in July 1877 as a Boy Second Class and was first posted to H.M.S. St. Vincent. He went on to serve with numerous ships, including H.M.S. Duke of Wellington, Terror, Druid, Duncan and Monarch. In August 1897 he joined H.M.S. Jupiter and it was whilst serving with this ship that he was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. He later transferred to the Royal Fleet Reserve in August 1904 and was discharged in April 1911, having reached the age limit.
