Percy Edward Kent, KB (1913-86), known as Sir Peter Kent; b West Bridgford, Notts.; ed. West Bridgford Grammar and Nottingham University; geologist in East Africa, 1934-6; joined Anglo-Iranian Oil Co (later BP), 1936; RAFVR 1941-6, mentioned in despatches; resumed career with BP, culminating in his appointment as Assistant General Manager, Exploration, 1971; Chairman of the Natural Environment Research Council, 1973-7; director of London and Scottish Marine Oil, 1977-83; President of the Geological Society of London, 1974-6. Sold with a copied obituary from the Proceedings of the Yorkshire Geological Society, 1987
