Leonard Marriott was born in Northampton, and attested there for the Royal Garrison Artillery. He served with the 1st Siege Battery during the Great War on the Western Front from 17 September 1914, and was killed in action at Passchendaele, during the Third Battle of Ypres, on 15 August 1917. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium.
