YORKSHIRE, Doncaster, oval ivory, Ladies Stand, Erected 1858, back named (James Montagu, Esq), 50 x 37mm, 8.32g (W –; D & W –; cf. DNW 176, 284). About very fine, very rare; pierced for suspension and with contemporary blue ribbon £150-£200

James Montagu, born James Fountayne Wilson (1819-91), Melton Park, Yorkshire, son of Richard Fountayne Wilson (1783-1847); b Doncaster; married Laura Adeline Thellusson (1855-1926), on 20 August 1874, she bore him seven children; Mrs Montagu later married Lt-Col Hon. Henry John Lindley Wood, DL (1843-1903), a veteran of the Ashanti and Zulu wars, on 2 March 1897.
