A Danish silver paperknife, by Torun for Georg Jensen, of polished tapered form with twist to handle, the outer side with maker’s mark for ‘Georg Jensen’ and ‘TORUN’, also stamped ‘STERLING DENMARK’, with Danish assay mark, and international convention mark (common control mark), length approximately 23cm. £100-£120

Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe (1927-2004), often known simply as Torun, was one of Sweden's most important 20th century silversmiths and jewellers, and one of first female silversmith to become internationally noted.
Torun declared that she “didn't want to design jewelry for the wives of wealthy men to keep locked up in private”, and so created "anti-status jewellery" out of silver, the seemingly simple yet fluid, minimalist forms, set with crystals, moonstone, quartz and pebbles. In 1959, she designed the Mobius necklace, which was described by Barbara Cartlidge, author of the reference book
Twentieth Century Jewelry, as a "milestone in the history of modern jewelry."
In 1969 Torun began designing exclusively for Georg Jensen and is the designer behind some of Georg Jensen’s most famous 20th century jewellery designs.
