The Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby) Regiment, an important series of tunics worn by Lieutenant-General Sir Douglas Brownrigg, KCB, DSO, comprising of a battle-dress tunic of 1940 pattern, a khaki dress tunic, both of the Sherwood Foresters, together with a khaki General Officers dress tunic and cap, all three tunics are complete with three rows of medal ribbons. The first a battle-dress tunic of 1940 pattern internally dated 1943 insignia to rank of Colonel with additional metal GVR cypher to denote ADC, cloth shoulder title "Foresters"and divisional patch to sleeve. The second a khaki dress tunic, rank insignia as above, KC collar badges and buttons of the Foresters, ( owner was appointed Colonel of Regiment in 1941), lastly a khaki General Officers dress tunic insignia to the rank of Lt. Gen., scarlet and gold bullion patches to collar, General Officers badges and buttons, together with a khaki dress cap, KC bullion badge to scarlet band, patent leather chin-strap with General officers buttons, patent leather peak with double row of gold bullion oakleaves, retaillers label of White of Jermyn Street, London, generally in excellent condition throughout £500-600

Lieutenant-General Sir Douglas Brownrigg KCB, DSO, born April 1886, commissioned 1st. battalion Sherwood Foresters 1905, served Great War in Gallipoli and Mesopotamia, DSO mentioned six times, brevets of major and Lt. Col. Major Gen.1934, Lt.Gen. 1938. Sold with a copy of owners autobiography "Unexpected", and some biographical details.
