The Worcestershire Regiment, a fine quality officer’s blue cloth home service pattern helmet by Hawkes & Co., the QVC plate with the post 1891 centre, complete with original carrying tin, this with brass name plate inscribed, ‘WA Bowen Esq. Worcester Regt.’ sold together with photostat service details, some moth damage to the front peak area and two small spots to a rear panel, some gilt loss to the spike and quadrant otherwise in excellent overall condition £500-700

WA Bowen was commissioned into the 4th (Militia) Battalion King’s Shropshire Light Infantry October 1897, Lieutenant 1899 Captain 1900, upon transfer to the Regular Army he was appointed 2nd Lieutenant The Worcestershire Regiment 21.4.1900, Lieutenant 24.11.1900. QSA KSA awards followed but he resigned his commission in 1904. Volunteering for service in 1914 he was re-appointed Lieutenant 19.9.1914 after extensive service with the 9th and 10th Service Battalions The Worcestershire Regiment during which time he was promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel, twice MID and receiving a DSO and Bar. Transferred to the Reserve of Officers in 1919 and retired from the Reserve in 1934.
