98th Regiment of Foot, a scarce William IV commission appointing George Davies Paterson, Gentleman to be an Ensign 25th May 1832, signed by the King, and Lord Melbourne, paper seals,given at St James’s, now laid down on card, hand written sections faded; Principal Veterinary Surgeon, a very scarce George III commission appointing Edward Coleman, Gentleman to that rank, ‘to Our Regiments of Cavalry serving in Great Britain’, signed by the King and General Cortland, St James’s 21st September 1796, paper seals, good condition for age (2) £80-120

Biographical details on the reverse of the first item show the gentleman’s second name to be ‘Dacres’, appointed Lieutenant 6.6.1835 Captain 11.5.1838 leaves the army c.1840/41, he was the son of Lt-Col George Paterson, 53rd Foot kia at Vittoria 21.6.1813. Married 28.61837 died 3.4.1847.
