Five: Staff Sergeant J. T. Delahey, Australian Imperial Force

1939-45 Star; Pacific Star; Defence and War Medals; Australian Service Medal,
all officially inscribed, ‘VX. 61159 J. T. Delahey’, mounted as worn, generally very fine (5) £40-60

John Thomas Delahey enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force at Royal Park, Victoria in August 1941 and was taken on the strength of the 2/2 Australian Field Company, Royal Australian Engineers in January 1942. He subsequently witnessed active service in the New Guinea operations and was discharged in March 1946; research included with the Lot confirms that Delahey had also enlisted in the A.I.F. in 1916 but that he was hospitalized on arriving in the U.K. and returned to Australia where he was honourably discharged, service that entitled him to a single British War Medal 1914-20.

Also sold with several photographs, one being a coloured portrait photograph, in uniform, wearing his 1939-45 and Pacific Star ribands, together with family biographical notes, etc.
