Owen Cecil Jones was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in Welsh (Carnarvonshire) Royal Garrison Artillery in 1909 and was promoted Lieutenant in the 7th (Merioneth & Montgomery) Battalion The Royal Welsh Fusiliers in 1913 and Captain in October 1914. He was appointed Adjutant in February 1916 and Temporary Major in July 1916 and attained the rank of Major in October 1917. Serving in Palestine, he was mortally wounded on 25 October 1917, when a shell exploded over the H.Q. platoon of the 7th R.W.F. Major Jones died on 30 December 1917 and was buried in the Jerusalem War Cemetery. Sold with copied research details.
