China 1900, no clasp (A.B., H.M.S. Aurora); 1914-15 Star (158516 A.B., R.N.); British War and Victory Medals (158516 L.S., R.N.), mounted as worn, first with contact marks, nearly very fine (4) £120-160

Albert Edward Larkin was born in Deal, Kent on 25 July 1875 and joined the Royal Navy in 1893. After 12 years service he left the Navy in 1905 but rejoined in 1910 and served throughout the war to be demobilised in 1919. During the war he served aboard the armoured cruiser H.M.S. Bacchante (2 August 1914 - 10 December 1916) and was present at the battle of Heligoland Bight. Sold with some copied service details and also with the recipient’s hand-written manuscript (part fragmentary) of his wartime experiences dating from 3 August 1914. Details include those relating to the above battle and service in the Mediterranean. An interesting personal record.
