Robert Gillis Wallace was born in Dundee; residing in Hammersmith he enlisted in Kensington. Serving with the 1/ 13th (County of London) Battalion London Regiment (Princess Louise’s Kensington Battalion), he entered the France / Flanders theatre of war on 13 November 1914. He was killed in action on 9 May 1915, aged 25 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial.
