Sidney Ashbourne was born, resided and enlisted in Hinckley, Leicestershire. Serving with the 2nd Battalion Leicestershire Regiment, he entered the France / Flanders theatre of war on 12 October 1914. He was killed in action on 25 September 1915 aged 26 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
