William Rone was born and resided in Plymouth and enlisted at Exeter. Serving with the 1st Battalion Devonshire Regiment he entered the France / Flanders theatre of war on 1 September 1914. He was killed in action, France / Flanders , on 10 March 1915, aged 36 years. He was buried in Ration Farm (La Plus Douve) Annexe.
