Frederick Plant was born in Crowfield, Ipswich and enlisted at Shorncliffe, Ipswich. Seving with the 11st Hussars he entered the France / Flanders theatre of war on 15 August 1914. He was killed in action on 1 November 1914. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.
