Royal Navy L.S. & G.C., G.V.R., 2nd issue, fixed suspension (J. 4862 E. W. Packer, A.B., H.M.S. Vivid) edge bruising and contact wear, about very fine £20-30

Ernest Walter Packer was born in Crediton, Devon in September 1893 and entered the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class in July 1909. An Able Seaman by the outbreak of hostilities in August 1914, which found him serving in torpedo boat destroyer No. 22, he went on to serve in T.B.D. 037 in Hong Kong between July 1916 and February 1919. Packer was awarded his L.S. & G.C. Medal in November 1926.
