An extremely rare W.S.P.U. suffragette flag, reputedly given to Mary Richardson by Mrs Pankhurst
Women’s Social and Political Union, cotton flag, fashioned in three sections in the colours of the W.S.P.U., approx 125x67cm, some tears and stains but generally in very good condition commensurate with age £300-500
According to family tradition, Mrs Pankhurst called a meeting of her followers to attend the Albert Hall and, looking at Mary Richardson, realised that she had no flag. “You had better have this one,” she said, and gave Mary this flag which she carried on many occasions.
