India General Service 1908-35, 1 clasp, North West Frontier 1908 (Lieut. D. H. McNeile, 19th P.W.O. Husrs.) naming officially re-engraved £100-120

This officer served in the 19th (Fane’s Horse) Lancers, Indian Army, from September 1905. During the Great War he was 2nd in command of the regiment from August 1915, was twice mentioned in despatches, and awarded the D.S.O. for gallantry in Egypt (London Gazette 8 March 1919, details 4 October 1919):

‘On the 19th/20th September, 1918, he, with his regiment, covered a distance of some 90 miles from Selmeh to Jisr Mujamia, within 48 hours, during which he seized and prepared for the demolition of the bridge at Jisr Mujamia by daylight. This performance included two consecutive all-night marches over difficult country, and during the whole period there was practically no rest for man or horse. He did fine work.’
