Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 4 clasps, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 (4871 Pte. P. Murphy, Rl. Muns. Fus.) good very fine £80-100

Peter Murphy was born in the Parish of Tralee in Co. Kerry, Ireland. A compositor by trade, he attested for the Royal Munster Fusiliers in 1895 aged 21 years. Whilst on ‘home’ service (February. 1895-February 1897) he was convicted of striking his superior officer and was imprisoned for 84 days. He served in the East Indies, February 1897 - December 1901 and in South Africa, December 1901-November 1902. He was discharged at the termination of his engagement in 1907. Sold with copied service papers.
