Hiberno-Scandinavian period, Phase II, Penny, series A, in imitation of the Long Cross type of Æthelred II, with the name of Sihtric and an unblundered rev. legend, sihtric re + dyfli, cross pattée behind bust, rev. færemin mio dyfli, pellet in each angle, 1.24g/12h (Dolley A1/a; SCBI BM 66, Copenhagen 58 and Ulster 51, same rev. die; Lane 17ff; S 6122; DF 23). Crack down arm of cross skilfully repaired, otherwise good very fine, toned £200-£260
