The Middlesex Regiment (Duke of Cambridge’s Own) Framed Wool Work c.1881-1900.
An interesting work (530mm x 570mm), the brown wool ground embellished with two pairs of Colours, Union sprays, regimental insignia, battle honour scrolls, a lion, Zulu shield etc. A scroll at the bottom, ‘Torn Shattered But Unstained’. An honour scroll at the top, ‘El Bodon’ is a curious addition as it was a victory for the French. Fought 25th September 1811, the 77th Regiment was one of the two British infantry regiments involved. Now contained in a reeded oak and glazed frame,
good condition £60-£80
