Edward Andrew Wallace Milroy was born in Marylebone, Middlesex on 6 May 1873, the son of Andrew Wallace Milroy, Rector of Newnham and Maple Durwell. A barrister by profession, he joined the 14th Middlesex (Inns of Court) Rifle Volunteers on 22 March 1897, after 4 years’ service in another corps, and served in South Africa during the Boer War with their detachment in No. 2 Mounted Infantry Company, City Imperial Volunteers. He died in St. Albans, Hertfordshire in December 1966, aged 93.
