Thomas George Clifforth was born in Greenwich, Kent, and was the husband of Margaret Clifforth of 143 Brookdale Road, Catford, London. He served during the Great War with the 8th Field Survey Company, Royal Engineers in the French theatre of war from 7 October 1914. Clifforth advanced to Corporal, and died on active service whilst attached to GHQ Salonika, 3 November 1918.

Corporal Clifforth is buried in Mikra British Cemetery, Kalamaria, Greece.
