Fitzherbert Christie Nicholson was born at Much Hadham, Hertfordshire, on 4 November 1830, joined the Bengal Army in November 1845 and served as an Ensign in the 72nd Bengal Native Infantry during the Second Sikh War. He died at Barrackpore, India, on 13 November 1854.
