Datelined “Downing Street Aug 24 1829,” it seeks Herries’ advice regarding the borrowing of money by the Lord Mayor and City to cover the cost of constructing approaches to the new London Bridge. 18 x 23cm (double). Some folds, clean (£100-200)

Henry Goulburn (1784-1856) enjoyed a career in politics from 1807 until his death. Construction of London Bridge began on 15 June 1825 and the bridge opened on 1 August 1831
