A.L.S. by William Huskisson, President of the Board of Trade, datelined “Petworth 2 April 1826,” protesting against the levying of £3 8s duty on a picture which cost 4s 3d in Malta. 11.6 x 18.8cm. Two folds, top corner bent, clean (£50-70)

William Huskisson (1770-1830) became Colonial Secretary in the Goderich administration, which was brought down as a result of a dispute between him and Herries, by then Chancellor. Huskisson was killed by a train at the opening of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway in September 1830
