Herries, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, to Henry Hobhouse, Permanent Under-secretary to the Home Office, datelined “Treasury Chambers 9 Dec.1825,” relating to his concern regarding papers he had received from Customs about the building of a steam vessel in the river supposedly for the Greeks and wondering what papers Mr. Peel should have before him. Clearly passed to Robert Peel, the back leaf bears his initialled note to Hobhouse that the law should be enforced. 11.3 x 18cm. One fold, clean (£100-120)
