Harry Sykes served during the Great War on the Western Front with the Royal Garrison Artillery from 23 October 1915 and was discharged to the Class ‘Z’ Reserve on 10 March 1919. He re-attested for service with the Royal Artillery in 1930 and served with them during the Second War achieving the rank of Warrant Officer Class 2. He was discharged on 14 October 1942 under King’s Regulations Para 390 (xvi) – “ceasing to fulfil Army physical requirements”.
