Arthur George Smith was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Cheshire Regiment on 15 October 1939, transferred to Army Catering Corps 22 March 1941, and then to the Royal Army Service Corps 1 September 1946. He was promoted Captain on 4 December 1946, and served at the Headquarters, South Palestine as a Major. He relinquished his commission on account of disability on 20 August 1961.
