Egypt and Sudan 1882-89, dated reverse, 1 clasp, Tel-El-Kebir (178, Pte. R. Lewry, 2/R. Ir: R.) pitting from Star, nearly very fine £120-£160

Robert Lewry was born in Dover, Kent, in 1863, and attested for the Royal Irish Regiment at Rochester, Kent, on 9 January 1882. He served with the Regiment in Egypt, and then in India (entitled to the India General Service Medal 1854-95 with clasp Hazara 1888, and the India General Service Medal 18905-1902, with clasp Punjab Frontier 1897-98). Advanced Quartermaster Sergeant on 28 July 1897, he was awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal on 1 April 1900, and died on 19 February 1901, after 19 years and 42 days’ service.
