Pair: Private S. Cole, 11th (Service) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers, late Army Service Corps, killed in action on the Italian Front, 27 October 1918

British War and Victory Medals (091083 Pte. S. Cole. A.S.C.) with named card box of issue, and enclosure addressed to recipient’s mother at ‘Burgess Court, North East St, Northam, Devon’; Memorial Plaque (Samuel Cole) in card envelope of issue, extremely fine, scarce (3) £120-£160

Samuel Cole was the son of John and Hannah Cole of Northam, Devon. He initially served during the Great War with the Army Service Corps, before transferring to the 11th (Service) Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers (No. 55683).

Private Cole was killed in action on the Italian Front, 27 October 1918, and is buried in Tezze British Cemetery, Treviso, Italy. On the latter date the Battalion were engaged in the Allied attack against the Austrians east of Piave.
