1st Sussex Rifle Volunteers Later 1st Volunteer Battalion the Royal Sussex Regiment Drum Major’s Stave 142 cm overall length, the brown malacca stave with gilt brass bulbous knop, the top with the applied arms of Great Britain pre 1901, the stave complete with its white metal linked chains and gilt brass bottom chape, two applied white metal bands state ‘The 1st Drum Major (sic) Staff Used in the 1st Sussex Rifle Volunteers, Presented to the Sergeants’ Mess by Lieut-Col F.C. Parsons December 1901’, the second reads ‘1st V.B.Royal Sussex Regiment’, very good overall condition £200-£300
