Queen’s Sudan 1896-98 (2580 Bombdr. A. V. Conway. R.M.A.) nearly extremely fine and rare £1,000-£1,200

Only 27 Sudan 1896-98 medals issued to officers and men of the Royal Marines who served afloat in the gunboats of the Nile Flotilla, or on shore while attached to the Army during the reconquest of the Sudan. Sold with copied medal roll entry which confirms that Conway qualified for the medal for service in Dongola in 1896, and that it was sent to him in H.M.S. Mars, where he was serving in the rank of Sergeant with the Channel Squadron.
