Harold Edward Wilson was born on 5 January 1896 in Bootle, Lancashire. He originally enlisted as a Private, in the 21st Reserve Battalion, King’s Liverpool Regiment on 25 February 1916, before applying for a Commission. He was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the 7th Battalion of the same regiment on 1 March 1917, and was promoted Lieutenant on 1 September 1918, and Captain on 27 April 1921. Captain Wilson relinquished his Commission in the Army on 24 July 1921, but in 1940 he joined the Home Guard, and the following year was commissioned Captain in the 73rd County of Lancaster (Maghull) Battalion. He died on 10 January 1991.
