Royal Army Medical College Tulloch Prize Medal in Pathology, 45mm, silver, by Spink, London, the obverse featuring Lieutenant F. M. G. Tulloch in military uniform, ‘Lieut. F. M. G. Tulloch, R.A.M.C., Uganda 1906’ inscribed around, the reverse featuring a seated and robed figure of the female ‘Scientia, Royal Army Med. Coll. Prize in Pathology’ around (Lieutenant F. C. Davidson, R.A.M.C., April 1913), edge bruising, very fine £50-£70

Frederick Churchill Davidson was born in Montrose on 1 January 1889, and was educated at Edinburgh University. He was commissioned Lieutenant in the Royal Army Medical Corps on 24 January 1913, and served as Medical Officer of the 1st Battalion, Scottish Rifles, during the Great War on the Western Front from 14 August 1914. He was promoted Captain on 30 March 1915, was wounded in action in 1915, and for his services with the British Expeditionary Force he was Mentioned in Despatches (London Gazette 18 February 1915) and was awarded the Military Cross. He subsequently served as Commanding Officer of 74 Field Ambulance from 1917, before he relinquished his commission on 14 April 1920, and was awarded the honorary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. He rejoined on 1 September 1939, and served during the Second World War at the Royal Hospital, Netley; in North Africa; and at home. He relinquished his commission on 26 August 1945, and was granted the honorary rank of Colonel.
