D.C.M. London Gazette 23 June 1915 (citation listed in London Gazette 30 June 1915):

‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at Neuve Chapelle on 10th to 12th March, 1915, in working his telephone for three days in the front line and for repeatedly repairing his wire under heavy shell and rifle fire.’

William B. N. Doran served during the Great War with the 33rd Battery, Royal Field Artillery in the French theatre of war from 6 November 1914. The Battery served as part of the 8th Division at the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, 10-13 March 1915, and was attached with the 32nd and 36th Batteries to the 23rd, 24th and 25th Infantry Brigades.
