A good 1796 Light Cavalry Officer’s Sword, probably for a Yeomanry or Volunteer Officer, with horse head pommel and plain curved blade, the pommel in the form of a finely cast and chased horse head with main flowing down the back strap, regulation stirrup guard, ribbed wood grip covered with polished leather bound with twisted copper wire, complete with scabbard with two hanging rings, all mounts and scabbard appear to be copper-gilt but are heavily patinated, blade retaining almost all of its original burnishing, guard slightly misshapen, minor dents to scabbard, otherwise good condition overall
