Edward Pawson was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, on 20 November 1889 and having emigrated to Canada attested for the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force at Valcartier on 25 September 1914. He served with the Canadian Field Artillery during the Great War, and was awarded the Military Medal whilst serving with the 11th Battery. He was killed in action on the Western Front whilst serving with the 3rd Brigade on 30 September 1918, and is buried in Triangle Cemetery, Inchy-en-Artois, France.
