Kabul to Kandahar Star 1880 (Private. C. Boyd. 10th Hussars) nearly extremely fine, scarce £280-£320
Charles Boyd was born in January 1851, and attested for the 10th Hussars at London in January 1871. He served with the Regiment in Afghanistan 1878-80 (entitled to Medal with ‘Ali Musjid’ clasp). The 10th Hussars were not present for the march from Kabul to Kandahar, and it is probable that Boyd was attached to the Field Force as an officer’s servant. He does not appear on the medal roll, but the medal appears entirely as issued. Boyd also served with the Regiment in Egypt and the Sudan, and is entitled to the medal with ‘El-Teb-Tamaai’ clasp. He was discharged, 13 February 1885, having served 14 years with the Colours.
