Herbert George Benton was born in Silverton, East London, and attested for the Royal Fusiliers at East Ham. He served with the 32nd Battalion during the Great War, and was killed in action on the Western Front on 7 June 1917. He is buried in Voormezeele Enclosure, Belgium.
