Defence Medal; St. John Service Medal, silver, with 6 Additional Award Bars (15502 Pte. C. J. Bones. Broughton-u-Blean Div. No. 8 Dis. S.J.A.B. 1936.) mounted as worn, very fine, scarce to unit (2) £60-£80

Charles Joseph Bones born 13 May 1902 in Chilham, Canterbury. By 1911 he was living in Holly Hill, Blean, near Canterbury. He joined the St. John Ambulance Brigade in the 1920s, and served during the Second World War as a First Aid worker in the A.R.P., living at 4 The Crescent, Swale R.D., Kent. He died February 1992 in Canterbury.

Boughton-under-Blean is a village and civil parish between Faversham and Canterbury in southeast England. It had a population of 1,865 according to the 2001 census, hence making this a scarce village award of the service medal.
