Edwin Sandys Wason was commissioned Ensign in the 33rd Regiment on 12 June 1860, and promoted to Lieutenant on 26 February 1864 and to Captain on 15 September 1869. He served in the Abyssinian campaign in 1867 as Adjutant of the 33rd Regiment (Medal). He was later Adjutant of the West Yorkshire Militia.
